Five things to think about when I design my magazine cover:

  1. Arouse curiosity to attract more than just a glance.
  2. Make it easy to scan and read quickly.
  3. Make the image emotionally irresistible.
  4. Make the cover intellectually stimulating so its interesting.
  5. Keep everything simple, but unique.

Merger Photo Preview

In some of her "people" there are some gray pixels that cover her body. I'm assuming that those pixels are part of the fence background that overlapped her pose. This could be a problem that I need to avoid. It would be fun to take this type of picture on the theater stage. When I take my photo, I would like to spell out the word FRIENDS (like the show). To take this photo I would  where normal clothes so they aren't distracting in the frame.

Nut Graf

The nut graf is the part of the story that summarizes the importance of the subject of the piece. Many journalists say it is the most important part of a story. It's job is to tell the readers why the story matters and the put the topic in context. It is important for journalists to not reveal too much in the nut graf, because the goal is to get readers to continue to read the article. Nut graf is a slang term combing the word "paragraph" and the phrase "in a nutshell." The nut graph, while explaining the story's main essence, also acts as a transition between the introduction and the rest of the article. It divides the beginning details and point of the article from the supporting details.

Eerily lit, the Academic Building gains a whole new ghostly dimension. The Photojournalism class was practicing with black and white photography as their assignment this week. Racing her friend, Freshman Camryn Cuchia sprints through the hallway in front of the library on her way to the A Hall. Cuchia lost the foot race to Carlos Canepa, a fellow Freshman and Varsity tennis player. Camryn Cuchia begins her campus run during PE class as part of her workout. PE students practice a variety of sports and exercises, including running on the track once a week. Bowie Freshman, Camryn Cuchia, runs gracefully in the parking lot as part of a photoshoot for Photojournalism Class. So far, Camryn's favorite project in the class this year was the Mural Project that students displayed in the hallways of the Academic Wing.
