Favorite Academics & Community Service Photo

My favorite picture from the Academics and Community Service section of the 2012 Jostens Photo Contest is "Quantum Mechanics". It depicts a student writing out a quantum mechanics problem on a clear board. I really like it because the student is very concentrated, and the perspective of the photographer provides an interesting angle. In addition, the green and blue markings on the board add an interesting and an aesthetic pop of color. There are several composition rules that the photographer used in this picture. She uses simplicity with a simple grey background, lines because the markings lead right to the students face, framing because the markings frame the student's face, and the rule of thirds because the subject is in the right third of the picture.
