Great B&W Photos Part II
Margaret Bourke-White was born in The Bronx in New York City on June 14, 1904, and died on August 27, 1971. She went school at the Cornell, Columbia and Michigan Universities. For her career, she worked for LIFE Magazine, and was their first female photographer. She captured images from after the stock-market crash, and traveled and took pictures in the Soviet Union. In fact, she was the first american photographer permitted to take pictures of the Soviet industrial revolution. During World War II she was a combat zone photographer. After the war, she covered the end of Mahatma Gandhi's life. She has several books, including Eyes on Russia and Twenty Parachutes.
