Photo Manipulation and Ethics
A. Any editing done that alters the original image is considered unethical. However, now that technology has improved, photo editing has become very easy to do. This results in an increase in unethical photo manipulation, especially in magazines like People and Star. It is important to be ethical in photojournalism, because the public is relying on you for an accurate account of whatever event is depicted.
B. Newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York times are very strict about image manipulation. For example, photographers are not allowed to edit the image's original colors. In addition, all photographers must turn in their original photos as well as their final portfolio.
C. I think there are very fews acceptable things you could do to an image without being unethical. However, I think things like fixing red-eye are just fine. You aren't changing anything about the original image that the photographer saw, because it was the camera that created the red-eye.n your
E. I think this is the least unethical picture, because everything in the image is a part of the original. The photographer just squeezed a horizontal image into a vertical one, they didn't combine two images or change someone's appearance. In addition, National Geographic apologized for their mistake and promised not to do it again which is very ethical.

D. I think this photo of Sarah Palin is the most unethical. After she was revealed as a vice-president nominee, someone spliced her head onto another person's body. I think this is the most unethical picture because it was used as bad press to try and sabotage her chances as a vice president. In my opinion, that is way worse than trying to make someone more attractive.
