1. I chose this image because the Pillars of Creation are just plain cool. The abstract shapes of the pillars and the diffused light and colors caught my eye.
2. The pillars are clouds of interstellar dust that has been shaped by high-energy winds. This picture was taken by the Hubble Telescope, and shows the Eagle Nebula.
