Phobia Project

A phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

Anthrophobia or Anthophobia- Fear of flowers.
Chirophobia- Fear of hands.
Iatrophobia- Fear of going to the doctor or of doctors.
Leukophobia- Fear of the color white.
Laliophobia or Lalophobia- Fear of speaking.

For Chirophobia I want to shoot a girl screaming in the center of the frame. All around the her would be hands
reaching into the frame. My model would be my friend Lilly. I want to shoot this image against a simple
background because there would be a lot going on in the picture. The hands surrounding the subject and
"reaching to grab her" would illustrate her fear of hands. I want to shoot this as a vertical photo with the subject
looking straight at the camera.

For Laliophobia I would shoot a man looking afraid and slightly insane with a piece of duct tape over his mouth.
The man will be my dad, and the shot will be very up close and personal to really capture the fear the subject is
feeling. The duct tape over his mouth symbolizes a fear of speaking. I would shoot this image in somewhere dimly
lit and then use the flash on the subjects face to have a dramatic sharp lighting contrast in the image. I want to
shoot this as a horizontal photo with the subject looking straight at the camera.

For Leukophobia I want to shoot a subject that is dressed in white against a completely white background. The
subject head will be completely wrapped in a scarf to show that their fear of the color white smothers them.
My model will be my mom, and I will shoot this image against a white background in a very well lit space.
The scarf will stand out against the whit and hopefully the feeling of helplessness will come through as well.

Chirophobia photo: I will make this photo stand out by capturing the fear of the subject and using the framing
technique to make it an interesting picture.

Laliophobia photo: I will make this photo stand out by shooting the subject very close of and personal to capture
his uncomfort and feeling of fear.

Leukophobia photo: I will make this photo stand out by wrapping the subject's head in a scarf that pops against
the white of everything else in the photo.
