Welcome Back!!

I like this picture because the leading lines of the building add an exciting aspect to the image and drew my eyes straight to the pope. The Pope is also evenly framed by the audience members, and I love the obvious joy showing on his face. The full frame and action shows how active and public the Pope's life is.
I liked this photo because the photographer focused on the background  as the main subject of the image. However, the blurred soldier in the foreground provides some information about the reason for all of the carnage in the picture, so the picture tells a story. I also like the bird's eye view because it captures the extent of the damage done to the city.
I liked this photo obviously not because it shows murder but because of its mystique and dramatic lighting. The photographer captured the menacing and dangerous atmosphere by lighting the image this way and it drew me in. Violence is something photojournalists need to capture because it is a very real and relevant problem.

The best song of 2016 was 24k Magic by Bruno Mars because it was very popular and reminded us to kick back and have some fun. I like that Bruno Mars has his own distinct style that incorporates some of his culture, and doesn't try to copy the "new" sound everyone else is doing. The song itself has good rhythm and swagger. This picture shows his unique style perfectly and the fun beat of his songs that makes you want to dance.

The best movie of 2016 was Captain America: Civil War because it was action packed and full of surprises. I love superhero movies because of their exciting plots and amazing fight scenes. This movie was something special because it showed how to stand up for what you believe in and the importance of compromising to remain united, both very important ideas.

The most important news story of 2016 was the conflict between the black community and police officers with deaths on both sides and several protests. This story was the most important because it highlighted the fact the racial prejudice is still a major problem in our country to this day. The racial tension that followed was ominous and foreboding and movements like "Black Lives Matter" gained support.

The most important person of 2016 was Donald Trump. He won the election even though he supports antifeminism and very racial views. The election set several records including the largest voter turnout in history. Trump took the country by storm and was probably the most talked about man in the US.
The biggest sports person of 2016 was Simone Biles. She is a strong role model for young girls showing that when you work hard enough, anything is possible. She set an American record for most gold medals won by a single athlete in women's gymnastics in a single Games. She is also the most decorated American gymnast with a combined total of 19 Olympic and World Championship Medals. Simone might be the best female gymnast the sport has ever seen.

Over the holiday I turned 15 so I got my learner's permit to start driving. This was a big turning point in my life because driving is a big part of growing up and I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.

My resolution for 2017 is to go for the things I've always wanted to do.
I'm looking forward to learning how to drive this year and our big family vacation to Europe this summer. Also, my sophomore year.
