Yearbook Introduction
Next class we will go over the book in more detail and begin talking about how to create a spread.
25 Things Every Yearbook Should Have
- The year should be on the cover
- There should be a table of contents.
- The book should have a theme.
- Each spread should have a title.
- Each picture should have a caption.
- Each spread should have a paragraph talking about the subject of the spread.
- Quotes should be included in captions or the paragraph mentioned above.
- A color applet should be used throughout the book.
- There should be a name index in the back of the book.
- Team and club photos should be contained in the book.
- Student and staff individual school photos should be in the book.
- Spreads should be in a logical order.
- Every caption should have the name of the photographer.
- Every caption should have a quote.
- Each spread should have different kinds of pictures.
- All the spreads should use similar design elements.
- Each section should have a title spread.
- The titles of each spread should be creative.
- As many different students as possible should be included in the book.
- The name of the yearbook should be on the cover.
- Individual student photos should be grouped by grade.
- There should be spreads at the beginning and end that tie the theme together.
- Spreads should be about students, not random topics.

The Book I Looked At
- The title is "Impact"
- From McNeil Highschool
- The thematic element in the book were solid squares between sentences that were then summed up on the bottom of the page. Also big blocks of color were behind sections of photos on each spread, the font carried throughout, and the format for the title was the same on every page.
- There are 5 major sections, and several subsections.
- My favorite spread is the Art spread
- There is an index in my book.
- There are photos of groups of people like clubs and organizations.
- There is a table of contents, but not every page is listed, they're broken into sections.
- 2683 people went to McNeil in 2005.
- My book is from Texas.
