Extra Credit

I chose to look at the website "Fstoppers". The intention of the website is to keep the reader up to date on all of the new things going on in photography. There are articles on photography tips and tricks, shared photos, information on equipment to buy, and discussions on the newest photography projects. My first impression of the website was that there was too much information at once. I think there are too many different photos, titles, sections and colors on the home screen. I would have liked a simpler home screen with a set color palette. However, despite the appearance of the site, it contains lots of good information. The average viewer can definitely learn a lot about photography through the articles. At the very least, the viewer can enjoy the shared photos on the site, because they are gorgeous. There is a lot of variety, from landscapes to portraits to creative edits. I also liked that the site was very easy to navigate, with few tabs and easy-to-read titles. One interesting aspect of the site is that it allows members to comment. This lets viewers and authors connect and give and receive feedback, which I think is a wonderful idea. I will not add this website to my bookmarks, because most of the articles are way too advanced for my skill of photography. I would recommend this website to someone trying to become a professional photographer. Overall, I would rate this website a 3 out of 5, because it was a decent site, but there were a few problems I had with it such as the visual presentation and the fact that I couldn't use half of the information with my basic equipment and budget.

I really like the drama of this photo created by the perfect capturing of the brutal reality that is the wild. However, I chose to share this image not only because it is gorgeous, but because of the article it was in. The article talked about how this woman's photograph went viral with people saying that the impala sacrificed herself to the cheetahs to let her child escape, and that the photographer felt deep depression after taking the shot. This story, made up by strangers, is completely false. The photographer captured a stunning moment of a lone impala being killed. There is no baby impala, nor does the photographer feel remorse. I wanted to highlight that fake news is becoming a major problem in our society. Companies will make up stories to sell more of their product. This disgusts me because if we can't rely on the news for the truth, then what can we rely on?
